Jackson Wang Is Back With Another Masterpiece “BLOW” And That Is Art

To start this article, I would like to give a brief introduction of one my favorites, Jackson Wang. He is a Hong Kong artist, singer, rapper, music composer, dancer and the list goes on. He is also part of one of most successful K-pop bands Got7 and currently active as a solo artist in China. He is also the founder of record label Team Wang under which he releases his solo projects.

Jackson has been preparing to release his new album “MAGICMAN” and a single from the album is recently released called “BLOW”. Just as the title says, this has been blowing our minds.

Music Industry is competitive enough to make many artists go short of creative ideas. However, they work hard and try to give something new to the world every time. It’s not easy and one has to be completely in their form to create something new and unique like Jackson has been doing for many years. He takes control of everything involved and delivers his creative ideas efficiently which makes his music and visuals fun to listen and watch.

Let’s talk about “Blow” now. The lyric of the song is almost clear that it represents a type of relationship as an addiction for cigarettes. Once you get the taste of it, you tend to enjoy every bit of it even though it is bad for your body. However, in the music video, this relationship seems to be between an artist and his love for art.

The background of the video is the backstage full of unconscious musical and performance artists. The place is almost destroyed when suddenly everyone comes alive once they inhale some kind of smoke (which might be referring to cigarettes in the lyrics).

I would say I was fully engaged in the video. Each and every section is choreographed in a way that people are moving in and out of the frames like they are just doing what they do every day. The most special thing is even though the center of the video is Jackson, you would want to look at everyone as if they are all the main characters of your favorite series. And as Jackson said in his interview, “they are not just the background dancers, they are artists”. It clearly shows that they are all fine performers.

The video is made keeping every sound of the track in mind or it could be the other way around, every click, blow etc. which is heard is also seen in the video. The set design is not less than a movie. I would definitely watch if they put out a whole movie out of that set. And I am always interested in the atmospheres which makes me feel nostalgic and as if something big (Good or Bad) happened here. So it immediately pulled my attention.

And finally, The Fashion! I don’t have to explain anything. I just love it.

Every masterpiece comes to us after there is a lot of hard work and effort has been put. We only see the final output of that. I really appreciate and thank all the artists like Jackson who are not afraid to show their creativity. They always show the best of them and that is not easy.
