Italian luxury house, Gucci opens new flagship in Seoul in neighborhood of Itaewon and named it ‘The Gucci Gaok’ which also means ‘Traditional Home’.
The façade of the building is designed by renowned Korean artist and sculptor Seungmo Park. The theme of the design is ‘(Hwan) Illusion’ and ‘Nature Shadow’.
With the intension to shed some light on the value of the environment with the motif of a forest and trees, Seungmo Park has been growing interest on growing pervasiveness of environment pollution and wants to share the message on what is more important, which is in this work of him is ‘Nature’.
As for the composition of the façade, this art works on the principle of ‘Light and Shadow’. The façade is a combination of more than 100 panels, each of which is composed by 13 layers of stainless-steel.
The flagship is with the contrast of Italian brand with Korean Sentiment.
“It is truly momentous that the Italian brand with 100 years of history build a flagship store with Korean sentiment at this special location”, said Seungmo Park.
The interior of the building is made comfortable yet luxurious. The house has also released a special film with well-known faces of Korean such as Kai of EXO who is also the brand ambassador of Gucci Korea and other artists like Jay Park, Sunmi and more. Kai has also been the global ambassador for Gucci’s new eyewear collection last year. Moreover the house had recently released new collection of Gucci x Kai collaboration worldwide which was a huge hit.
