While artist spend their time to make a masterpiece using their years of skills and knowledge, they always want to see their art in some of the famous art auction houses in the world.

Seeing your art work being bought in good prices by many passionate art lovers and collectors in the world is an unexplainable feeling. While selling online is great, selling through an auction house would be really beneficial too. 1. SOTHEBY’S

Sotheby's Art Auction Houses

Sotheby’s is the leading auction house currently with total sales of over $5 billion (along with the caveat that it had several major auctions left before the end of the calendar year) in 2020 beating Christie’s for the first time in recent memory. Established in 1744, Sotheby’s is a British-founded American multinational corporation headquartered in New York City. Sotheby’s has global network of specialists spanning 40 countries and 44 departments, which include Contemporary Art, Modern and Impressionist Art, Old Masters, Chinese Works of Art, jewelry, watches, wine and spirits, and interiors, among many others.

Apart from auctions, Sotheby’s also provide other services such as private sales and buy now.

2. CHRISTIE’S

Christie’s is one of the top auction houses in the world founded in 1766 by James Christie. Christie’s offers around 350 auctions annually in over 80 categories, including all areas of fine and decorative arts, jewelry, photographs, collectibles, wine, and more. Christie’s has a global presence in 46 countries, with 10 salesrooms around the world including in London, New York, Paris, Geneva, Milan, Amsterdam, Dubai, Zürich, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. More recently, Christie’s has led the market with expanded initiatives in growth markets such as Russia, China, India and the United Arab Emirates, with successful sales and exhibitions in Beijing, Mumbai and Dubai. In 2020, Christie’s recorded the sale of $4.4 billion including both auction and private sales.

3. PHILIPS – ART AUCTION HOUSES

Philips is one of the top 5 auction houses in the world mostly comes after big houses like Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Philips was found by Harry Philips in 1796 in Westminster, London. 4. POLY – ART AUCTION HOUSES

Poly Auction Limited (Poly Auction Hong Kong), established in 2012 by Poly Culture Group Corp. Ltd., is a young but remarkable auction house in Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region. Beijing Poly International Auction, a subsidiary of Poly Culture Group Corp Ltd., is China’s largest state-owned auction house and holds the highest auction transaction volume of Chinese art in the world.

Poly Culture Group Corporation Limited expanded its auction business to Hong Kong in 2012 with the establishment of Poly Auction Hong Kong, and was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 6 March, 2014 (Poly Culture Group Corp. Ltd., 03636.HK).

5. CHINA GUARDIAN – ART AUCTION HOUSES

China Guardian Auctions Co., Ltd., established in May 1993, is the earliest auction company to specialize in the sale of Chinese artwork of all varieties. For years, China Guardian has successfully staged more than 300 auctions with more than 200,000 lots sold. China Guardian holds major Spring and Autumn Auctions, as well as its Quarterly Auction series. Regular auction business covers Chinese paintings and calligraphy, porcelain, works of art, Chinese oil paintings and sculptures, rare books, stamps, coins, bronzes mirrors and fine jewelry.
