Skincare Routine: I have been through those scary days when I used to look at my skin and get upset because of my skin condition. I got worried that I’ll never have a healthy and glowing face again. Acnes popping out on my face, my sensitive skin would get bumps just by little heat and opening pore were just getting bigger. I started to look older than I was in my twenties only.
I then went to dermatologist to get the “right” treatment but you all know there is no right treatment. Most of the clinics and doctors are just experimenting their products on your skin most of the time. If it works, great otherwise they say to get a laser treatment. And something like this happened with me. I spent more than 25k rupees on my treatment AND their products did worked to an extent but they again started to get worse when treatment stopped.
So what was next? I didn’t give up and my close friend came to rescue this time. She had have been using few products on her face when she used to get big pimples on her face as well. I saw her after 6 months and got shocked by the changes on her face. Her skin got cleaner and brighter since before when I last met her.
She shared her skincare routine with me and I started using the products. As time passed, I did some changes in products and routine until I got the expected results. I not only got rid of acne also my skin got brighter. I still get pimples every month once or twice due to menstruation but that is normal. I can’t really stop it but I don’t get any scars now.
So I will share my night skincare routine today so If you are also struggling with the same issues, you can take reference from this and work on your skin too.
For your information, I have combination skin. With T shaped oily skin and rest normal skin. Let’s get started.
1. Facewash
The very first step in my skincare routine is have a quick face wash with a light foam face wash to remove any dirt and old from the surface. Don’t overrub you skin, clean your face gently for 1-2 min.
Face Washes I use:
Please make sure to rinse off the foam properly with the water to avoid settling on the pores.
2. Cleansing
The second step is to deep cleanse with an oil cleanser or milk cleanser. In my case I use the good quality moisturizer. Use a good quality moisturizer which suits your skin. Take approximately 1 tea spoon (enough to massage your face) and massage your face upwards and around eyes upwards. Refer any face massage video in YouTube for your reference. I would recommend the Tanaka Massages for the best results.
It’ll not only cleanse your face but also uplift your skin to look younger. Do it for 5-10 min or until the moisturizer gets soaked.
Moisturizers I use:
I am recommending these products because I have personally used them. Please use it as a reference to buy you a product which would suit you or you can buy the same.
3. Scrub It Off
Rinse off the extra moisturizer with water and use a gentle scrub on your face. Massage your face gently with the scrub, you can put little pressure as per your comfort but don’t be harsh.
This step is not done every day. Do it once in 2-3 days or once a week. If you are going out daily, do it once in 3 days. Use normal face wash when you don’t use the scrub.
Scrubs I have used:
4. Toner
Next Step is to use the toner. Toner is use to hydrate your skin immediately after lot of cleansing to balance the moist in your skin.
Use a toner immediately after drying your face.
5. Niacinamide Serum
If you are looking for a serum to treat acne marks, hyperpigmentation or improving the texture of your skin – the Niacinamide Serum is for you. For women with dry skin, I would recommend a serum of lower concentration/ more hydration.
Use two drops of serum and pat it on your face. You can use this serum both in day and night. For day time, make your to use sunscreen after applying the serum.
6. BHA Serum or Gel
This works as a gentle exfoliation on your face. BHA helps gently exfoliate skin and unclog pores, for a clear and healthier-looking complexion. The serum comes with combined salicylic acid that not only exfoliates dead skin cells on the outer surface of the skin but also easily penetrates the pores and clears out dirt, oil and all other impurities.
You can start by adding 2 drops of the serum to your moisturizer, if you are new to actives or have sensitive skin. Experienced users can apply 2-3 drops of the serum after face wash and follow up with a moisturizer. It can be used 3 times a week. Or daily just as a spot treatment.
- Suganda BHA Serum
- BeBodywise AHA/BHA Clearing Gel – If You Decide to Buy this, you don’t need to buy a separate niacinamide serum as it also contains 4% niacinamide.
7. Vitamin C and E Serum
Second last step, Vitamin C boosts your skin’s collagen production to give you firmer, plumper skin & smoothen out fine lines & wrinkles. While its antioxidant properties fight free radicals & damage caused by UV radiation. Also Vitamin E effectively diminishes permanent marks or scars. Free radicals in the environment make it harder for scars to heal, & that’s where the antioxidant rich Vitamin E can help you.
Use 2-3 drops of serum on your skin and tap it dry.
8. Eye Cream
This step is not mandatory but I want to add this since I am using an eye cream currently and it is really good.
That is Pilgrim Retinol Under Eye Cream. It is a Korean brand and it really works after trying multiple eye creams which never worked for me.
You can give it a try if you like to. I am not making it as a mandatory step.
Conclusion
Everyone has different skin but similar concerns sometimes. Please don’t be sad if the products you are trying aren’t working for you. Give your skin rest by avoiding trying too much products at once.
For me, I tend to skip 1-2 steps based on my skin conditions at a specific time. You can do that too. You don’t have to do too much but please take care of your skin.
Also never forget to apply sunscreen daily regardless of where you are and what the weather is.
