Natak Factory is an entertainment organization. They do various type of activities from arranging workshops to organizing events. And their main focus in to keep India’s years old theater heritage alive.
I attended their one of their acting workshops which was held in Kalagrah – House of Performing Arts, Bangalore. And I am here to share my experience.
I am a working professional but I want to learn something new apart from my daily work. And I am very much interested to do something in acting and theater field. So I decided to attend this workshop by Natak Factory.
My Expectations
Honestly, I didn’t expect much but just a how a workshop would be. 10-12 attendees would be there. The Instructor could be friendly or not be so. He would teach some techniques from the books and some from his experience. And what else could be done in a 2 days workshop.
My Experience
From the beginning when I reached Kalagrah, I loved the place itself. Some people were already there but they were not there to attend the workshop unlike my first thought was when I entered. They were other actors who often go there for practice. And also there were these two cute dogs(DD and Dexter). It was not a typical institute atmosphere.
There were only 5 attendees including me which made it more convenient. Our Instructor was S Venkat N Murthy who is also the founder of Natak Factory. He made all of us comfortable and taught us the fundamental concepts instead of directly going into the techniques. The session was very interactive between everyone. It didn’t feel like a workshop but more of a natural get-together.
I was able to open up a little since everyone in Kalagrah seemed friendly. I felt comfortable.
The thing I loved most about the workshop that they began with saying that “Your creative Journey Begins here”. And focused on how do we not stop once the workshop is over but start working on our skills and move ahead in creative journey. That was great to hear because I don’t want to stop.
What I Got From The Experience
The little courage I needed to start doing what I really wanted to do. I was already motivated to do something but didn’t know where to start. I met people like me which made feel I am not alone. Even though I have to work on myself and for the journey ahead alone, I can still look back and ask for guidance.
I also learned the fundamentals of acting which we all already know but we don’t know that we know. Lot of Knows!
Finally, I just want to say, this workshop is not for you if you just want to learn the techniques and use them in the auditions. This is for the people who are creative and want to learn how to use their creativity for their career.
