In today s’ changing world, everything is changing fast and so is art. Art is something which is evolving with time and technology too. We humans tend to try new things even if it is in art. Today’s or we can say modern era’s art is called Contemporary art, is seen everywhere from streets to museums. Contemporary art is produced in 20th and 21st century and is normally made by different artists combining different cultures and techniques. But why are modern contemporary art sold in such a high prices.
WHAT HAS BEEN PUT INTO MODERN CONTEMPORARY ART TO BE SO EXPENSIVE
Firstly, I would say, not every piece of art is sold in millions of dollars but many are worth to be sold in high prices. The worthy artworks are not just a moment of some brush strokes. They take years of work on the skills of an artist.
If you look into some contemporary artwork, you will notice that it was not just a common design which is taught to everyone but it is something the artist has discovered and created by himself with time. The pattern they have chosen to draw on a piece of paper or a fabric, how they have come up with that without seeing anywhere. It is something the artist had to think about a lot before finally deciding to draw it.
The colors they choose is mostly designed in a way to tell a story or give a message or at least a sense of feeling.
And since contemporary art is normally a mix of styles and techniques, the artist must have the knowledge and experience of his art field to know what he’s doing and/or a highly creative thinking.
WHAT AN ARTIST HAD IN MIND
Modern Contemporary art is often in discussions as to why they been made when some of them looks very easy to make like we see in many abstract paintings. Abstract painting is drawn based on one’s imagination not the external reality. So, to make them, someone has to have an imaginary thinking and should be able to put that down on the piece of paper almost accurately. I think the choice of colors and to know how to blend them together in one piece of paper is important in abstract paintings since that is what going to get people’s attention.
One cannot draw just anything they imagine. It is not all an artist’s imagination. The imagination is just an idea for what they would want to draw but to be able to make it an art piece, an artist put his knowledge and skills into work. And that is the probably a big difference between an artist and a beginner.
If you go to an art museum or see an art collection, you will find yourself wondering what is the idea and thought behind some art works. Those art works give your mind an opportunity to think to its maximum capacity to figure them out. And there will be number of thoughts coming out of number of different people. So, it is basically that an artist’s imagination also sparks imaginations in others even if they have not figured out his thoughts through his work but they have got their own ways to comprehend the art work.
An artists’s mind can see the world differently and their mind is full of creativity like a child. They always want to be able to think differently from others. And they often do.
CONTEMPORARY ART – AN EXPRESSION WITHOUT EXPRESSING
There was time when art was not really just art. It was a way of living. The general medium to make living better. Art was used in every place from making house hold items to making portraits of families to keep memories. Art was still luxurious like now but back then it was the only source of creating almost anything which was used by humans in their everyday lives. Take example of cutlery, clothing and of course decor.
But with the technologies improving and taking over almost every field, art is no more a necessity for living even though it still takes an individual’s imagination to create anything new but they can be made by machines fast and precisely. And this also applies to decor. Now, family portraits are not a necessity to make but it is just one’s wishful desires because we have cameras to take family or individual pictures if required.
Seeing no use of making realistic and materialistic use piece of art, artists are now indulging into more thought provoking creations which is expressive. Now artist don’t make art for other’s but to express their own thoughts or give a meaningful message which is still useful.
Art now is a way of human expression. With so many legal or social restrictions, it is crucial to get a way to say something without having to say anything. And art here comes for help for those who want to do that.
THE FREEDOM OF CREATIVITY
Honestly, making same old shapes and figures and those so called realistic drawings without adding one’s own creativity is boring.
I personally like paintings and art pieces which makes me curious to know the meaning behind them. Even though there’s no specific meaning, I want to see something I have not seen much. And modern contemporary art does that.
With so many options available to work on, modern contemporary art makes it really interesting for artists to always experiment with their imaginations and make something extraordinary. There is no barrier to one’s creativity here since they’re free to make almost anything they had the idea of. And because people are always interested to see something new, artists have that pressure to have new ideas but it is also adventurous and fun for them.

Conclusion
I am not an ideologist. I tried to put my thoughts on modern contemporary art and they’re only my opinion on it. As there are many types of artists creating awesome pieces of art work every day, I think we should appreciate this.
Yes, this is also true that many artists tend to make what they have been trained in for years but those modern contemporary artists takes all the applause, it is important to understand that the uniqueness and having one’s own style matters with mastering the skills. That would make an artist’s work stand out.
