By admin on May 6, 2021August 20, 2024

LICORICE ROOT (MULETHI)

Licorice root (Mulethi), is a herb which is commonly found in Europe and Asia. Licorice is used as a Ayurvedic herb as it has numerous health benefits. Some of the health benefits it has are due to it’s anti-inflammatory properties such as it reduces skin rashes and pigmentation, moisturize and soften the skin. It also clarifies the respiratory tracks and help cure throat infections, cold, asthma and relieve cough and much more.

There are so many health benefits of Mulethi. However here we are going to give some face pack recipes you can use with Mulethi to add to your skin care routine. But before using any of these face packs on your face, please note the below points as precautions:

  • Do the patch test before applying the Licorice root face pack on your face.
  • Please use the Licorice root powder with the given ingredients only since using it directly on your face may be strong and it might cause problems.
  • Please don’t use it on your skin if you have sensitive skin.

So let’s see the face packs.

1. Licorice Root (Mulethi) and Chandan

Chandan also known as Sandalwood has a soothing and calming effect on the inflammation of skin caused due to pimples and acne. Our grannies have been using sandalwood for pimples and acne for centuries, and really leave the skin to be blemish-free.

2. Licorice Root (Mulethi) and Honey

Thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic abilities, Honey may benefit oily and acne-prone skin. Honey is also a natural humectant, so it helps keep the skin moist but not oily. This is because humectants draw moisture from the skin without replacing it.

  1. Add 2 tablespoon of Mulethi powder in a bowl.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of Honey.
  3. Add water as much required to make a consistent paste.
  4. Wash your face and apply the paste on it.
  5. Leave the pack on for 20-30 min and wash it with water.
  6. Apply moisturizer.

Aloe Vera contains enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins A and C which can treat burns, acne, dry skin and many other skin issues. It is highly inflammatory too. With all these benefits, Aloe Vera is definitely good for face. It’s suitable for all skin types so you can apply on sensitive skin as well.

Few Tips before You start Using DIY Masks

We often look for home remedies and solutions when we have an issue with our skin. I would recommend to use home made face masks and cure for our skin normally just like how we eat, drink and sleep. Using home made recipes for our skin often, even when we have good skin will help us maintain that good condition of our skin and avoid any issues in future as well.

Using suitable cosmetics is great and important to keep the skin healthy. However adding some home made masks to your skin care routine will not only add up to your skin care but also reduce the use of lot of different chemical based cosmetics which are all not really helpful for our skin.

I hope you have found this article helpful. Try using these face masks and don’t be too harsh on your skin. Use one or two face mask in a period of time. If you want to try new masks, change it to another one. Your skin takes sometime to adapt to new ingredients however if you find your skin irritated or any rashes after the use of a mask, stop using that mask. This might be because of incompatibility of that ingredient with your skin.
