Do you love to draw but cannot do it the way you thought. The output results don’t fulfill your expectations and you blame your drawing skills?
Don’t worry, you are not alone here. There are so many artists who struggle to draw as per their expectations and most often tend to give up. And I was one of them. So I found out few ways to keep improving my drawing skills which I have mentioned below. I thought they may help you too, so keep reading….
FIND AN INSPIRATION
Whether you are a beginner or experienced, finding the inspiration always helps in improving your skill because once you get inspired, you tend to put extra efforts on the piece you want to create. You get inspired from things you truly got impressed from and you want to do something like it too. So it automatically boosts your will to give your hundred percent. But here is a thing. There are chances you won’t be able to create the piece like you thought you would but give yourself a little time, because your pencil and paper will always be with you no matter how you draw.
Places to get inspiration from:
- Instagram: You can follow some good artists there and see their content to get inspired.
- Go out in nature: There nothing more effective than nature for getting inspired as an artist.
- Dig in your old pictures: There is always something in your old picture album to get inspired from which you didn’t think about when you took the pictures.
FIND YOUR STYLE
Every artist has something unique in them which shows in their art. Don’t expect yourself to draw exactly how you saw from other artist and it will not be fun anymore if you keep drawing which is already drew by someone else.
Use your imagination and try to draw them on the paper, no matter how it turns out on the first try, it is your own piece of art. Then keep filling the gaps to make it better every time you draw.
TAKE A BREAK FROM SOCIAL MEDIA
When I said to take inspiration from social media, I really meant it. There are plenty of ideas out there because those are put by people only. But try not to get distracted by them and then eventually get disappointed by yourself just because you can’t draw like them YET. Remember, those people had struggles too and they have put work on it to get where are they now. So YOU can too.
Avoid getting distracted by too much information from social media and focus on one skill at a time.
BE CREATIVE WITH YOUR TOOLS
You can make your learning journey interesting by trying different drawing items. For example, when I make a watercolor painting, I do the finishing with colored pencils to give my drawing an extra feel. In my charcoal drawings, I use normal graphite color pencils to give it a little texture. So being open to all type of drawing and painting tools, allows me to be more flexible therefore, it is easy to create a piece I want to create.
WRAPPING UP!
So my biggest advice to you is to not give up and keep practicing on your skills. Also, give yourself freedom as an artist. Don’t bound yourself to certain expectations. More you are free to think, more amazing things you can create.
So I want to wish you all the best and HAPPY CREATING.
