Drawing and art is a beautiful way of expression. It helps us more expressive and it is easy to know ourselves and others better through their art. It is more expressive when done with freedom means when there’s no rule and standard set for it. That is what we should do with our kids. Letting them express in their own way. And art is very effective way to do so. Their mind is still developing and if we let them create what is in their mind, we can understand them better to help them grow for a better life. Not every kid is meant to be an artist but they can be creative in their own way.
Let’s look at some creative and fun ways you can engage kids with arts. There are some fun drawing activities kids would love to do.
DIFFERENT SHAPES AND COLORS ARE TO START WITH
As we see a kid grow, some initial things we teach them are different colors and shapes. And they learn them very fast. So adding it to their drawing list is a creative way to make them learn. When they have already learned different shapes and colors, let us make them do some experiment with it. Place one shape such a round ball, a cube or rectangular box or a triangle in front of them and ask them to draw it on their drawing book.
As per the color, you can ask them to put any color they want in those shapes because we are not here to restrict them to anyone types of color but make sure you ask them the color when you analyze their drawing to make sure they know what color they have put. Letting them choose the color is a way to see what color they want to see the object with and asking them the color name at the end will let them learn about their favorite color.
DOODLING – (And) ABSTRACT DRAWING
Doodling is a type of drawing which is not only loved by children as well as adults. It is fun to draw doodles since there is no specific rule for it, you can draw anything you want and keep adding shapes and items to it. It is very creative way to keep yourself engaged without getting bored and also a fun way to release stress. As for kids, they love to draw anything they want, just give them a drawing sheet and some colors, they will fill the paper with so many cute and funny shapes.
To make it more fun, ask them to draw doodles related to one topic such as their favorite sports, school, fruits or flowers. You can also ask them to use various colors. You will be amazed how creative your kids can be and it will make them happy too when you will praise them. To make it more fun, you both can draw doodles together. Help them with your ideas too. It is a good way to engage with your kids and make them feel more loved. Kids love it when they get to do things with other loved ones rather than doing things alone or by themselves.
DRAWING THEIR FAVOURITE CHARACTERS
This is for kids who have learned to draw some basic drawing such as different shapes. Now make it fun for them and ask them to draw favorite character from their favorite cartoon show or their favorite book. Ask them to write a message along with the character as well.
To make it interesting, you can ask them to draw their favorite person or thing in real life such as their favorite pet, their favorite teacher, their favorite family member and so on. You can also ask them to create a short story with their characters like in a comic book and ask them to add a sweet message to it. This will not only make their art better but also their thinking ability as a person and how they would communicate via their characters. Ask them to read their story when you analyze their drawing and ask them the inspiration behind their story.
This will help you understand your kids more and fun. Sometimes, it is just drawing but you can find their interest filed through their drawings too. If you give them the freedom to draw anything they want, they mostly would draw what they like and desire to do most.

Conclusion
There are many more fun and creative activities you can make your kids do and get yourself engaged with as well. My basic idea is to give the kids the freedom to express through their creative ideas so they can grow with strong mindset in the future. And the most important thing here is not making them do things alone but doing their favorite things WITH them. It is very important to make this bond with your children so they can be open with you in the future too and never feel shy to express themselves in front of you. Every kid is different. Not all of them are loud and upfront. Many are really shy and don’t say too much from the beginning. So it is your responsibility to make them express their feelings openly. Maybe not via speaking too much because they won’t but at least through their art. Their are many forms of arts and drawing is some initial skills kids learn to do faster than other activities. So why not start with it.
