Christian Dior, the French Luxury Fashion House unveils their new haute couture collection in Dior Men Summer 2022 show in Paris this June. Titled as ‘Cactus Jack Dior’, the show is a collaboration between Dior men’s artistic director Kim Jones, Musical Artist Travis Scott and Christian Dior House.
The Title is drawn from Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Record Label. The fusion of Christian Dior’s Rose Garden and Texas’s deserts, the show results as a cactus garden with sunset palette of colors. The set design was a beautiful scenery of beautiful canyons and desert with white roses and cactus plants.
The Dior Men Summer 2022 Collection
Kim Jones in collaboration with Travis Scott’s hand planted graphics has designed The collection for this summer 2022 show. Travis Scott has reimagined the Dior logotype via a series of hand-drawn graphics, utilized as prints and embroidery: other motifs, including the topography of Houston, the Cactus Jack character, and imagery drawn from Dior’s archives, become patches, trophies of imaginary trips that adorn bags and leather souvenir jackets.. The collection overall is sporty and casual in contrast with formal luxurious touch.
The Souteche embroidery on Jackets is done by Vermant in Paris. Souteche is traditionally used for frogging and details in military jackets. Kim Jones wanted to give the masculine touch with a feminine feel to it.
The collection is presented with especially designed accessories. The men’s ‘Dior Saddle’ bag is introduced in a new double version with a sturdy stirrup handle and headwear by Stephen Jones mixes French bucket hat and American Beanie.
Kim Jones has also collaborated with Dior Joailleries Creative Director, Victoire de Castellane on a high jewelry, gen-set cactus necklace, produced especially for the show.
For a series of one-off art pieces for Dior Summer 2022 show, Kim Jones, Travis Scott and the House of Dior collaborated with US contemporary artist George Condo. The unique set of hand-painted shirts by the American artist is intended for auction after the show to future creative talents in the form of scholarships.
