Christian Dior, the French Luxury Fashion House unveils their autumn-winter haute couture collection for women in Dior Autumn-Winter 2021-2022 show live from Paris this 5th of July. The collection is designed by fashion designer Maria Grazia Chiuri. The show held live on Christian Dior’s official YouTube channel.
The Set
The set for the show Chambre de Soie, was created by Eva Jospin is unveiled in the heart of the Rodin Museum. The life-sized embroideries displayed on the walls recalling the Indian-inspired Salle aux Broderies in the Colonna Palace in Rome. It was really a highlight point of the show. The colorful embroideries must be looking astonishing in real as it was already beautiful on camera closeups.
Dior Autumn-Winter 2021-2022 Show Collection
The collection included variety of textured patterns in black and white, checks, tweeds with subtle color palates of black and white, silver and more. But most of my attention was grabbed by different designs with glossy prints of shades of purple, yellow, browns, red and white. Combining different styles like nets, lace, glossy prints, plated skirts of asymmetric hemlines, some of this Haute Couture collection could be part of a ready-to-wear collection as well considering how comfy look they have. The first half of the show’s collection had subtle color palates with textured and checks designs. However, the second half collection was nonetheless my favorite in the show. Also the tailored overcoats and jackets looked classy.
“This Dior haute couture autumn-winter 2021-2022 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri takes place within a singular context. The return to “being present” implies shifting attention to a tactile materiality. Translating this materiality in the virtual age also means reinterpreting embroidery: not just as a decorative ornament, but as an element connected to the senses of sight and touch.”
